Common hair washing mistakes: Learn what NOT to do!

Hair care is a very important element of women's grooming rituals. Many studies show that hairstyle is what determines the first impression and perception. Although hair is a river subject and each of us has a developed method of caring for it, it is worth getting acquainted with some stereotypes that, instead of beautifying, damage the hair.

How often do I wash my hair?

A common myth is that you shouldn't wash your hair every day, because then it starts to get dirty faster. On the one hand, this may be true because if we wash our hair every day and use strong cleansing shampoos, we can compromise the scalp's natural protective barrier. As a result, it will start to produce more sebum and the hair will lose its freshness faster. But if we use delicate shampoos and have hair that requires frequent refreshing, there are no contraindications not to do this.

It is also not true that if we have oily hair, we should go with it as much as possible to thicken it more slowly. We should not do it, because in addition to the very unpleasant appearance of greasy hair, sebum and impurities accumulated on the head will clog the pores of the skin, which will cause hair loss.

Of course, we can try to postpone washing our hair for a day, but it is better not to wait anymore once we feel the need. It is very important to take care of your scalp! Try RATED GREEN REAL MARY PURIFYING SCALP SCALER (SEA SALT) which contains 70% rosemary juice, the best natural ingredient for purifying hair roots, regulating excess sebum and gently exfoliating the scalp. The best thing about this treatment is that it not only cares for the scalp but leaves your hair soft and hydrated, while its fresh minty aroma helps relieve accumulated stress.

How to wash your hair correctly?

Step 1.
Before washing your hair, comb it well. Thanks to this, while you wash your hair it will be less tangled, you will wet it faster and you can spread the shampoo on it more easily.

Careful! Detangling hair before washing does not apply to curly hair, which can only be combed wet with conditioner on it.

Step 2.
Set the water temperature so that it is neither too cold nor too hot. Too cold or too hot water has a negative effect on the scalp, sebaceous glands and weakens the hair.

Step 3.
Do not pour the shampoo directly on the hair. First, dilute it with water to make it gentler on your skin and hair. Diluting your shampoo also makes it easier to spread through your hair and allows you to use less shampoo.

Step 4.
If necessary, divide hair washing into two stages: pre-wash and main wash. Pre-washing loosens dirt particles and cosmetic residues, e.g. hairspray. After you have rinsed your hair after pre-washing, go to the second step and after a few minutes of massaging, clean your scalp and hair well.

Step 5.
Rinse the shampoo thoroughly from the scalp and hair, using plenty of water.

Step 6.
Apply a conditioner, treatment or mask to your hair. It is important that water does not drip from the hair at this stage, as it can dilute the conditioner or mask, thus weakening their effect.

Step 7.
Gently squeeze out excess water, but do not rub your hair with a towel, twist it into a knot, or tie it tightly with a towel. Wet hair is very sensitive and prone to damage, so you can damage it very quickly. A soft cotton towel, muslin towel, or cotton t-shirt will help drain the hair.

Step 8.
Rub the protective oil or serum into the damp ends of your hair and let it dry naturally.

Here are the most common hair care mistakes we make.

Towel vs. hair

Each of us has a favorite hair towel. Rubbing freshly washed hair with a towel usually damages the cuticles and breaks the keratin bonds. There is a way to do this the right way: wet hair, instead of being rubbed and pulled, should be squeezed gently with a towel so that it absorbs the excess water. People with curly, wavy and delicate hair should be the most careful, this type of hairstyle is the easiest to damage. In this case, it's worth investing in a microfiber towel or drying your hair with a regular cotton t-shirt.

Combing the hair

Do you always comb your hair before you wash it? Hair, combed before washing, does not tangle excessively, and conditioners and masks can be distributed much better. First, comb the hair with your fingers (especially curly hair, which should avoid dry combing), then use a wide-toothed comb or a specialized hairbrush. Our recommendation: try the British M Flex Gentle Brush is gentle on the hair and scalp, detangling while flexing to the curve of the head. The bristles glide effortlessly through hair and detangle wet or dry hair without pulling. If you have trouble combing dry, use a spray or treatment. We recommend Missha Damaged Essence Hair Therapy Essence enriched with Protein H (honey protein) and Vitamin H (Biotin) to provide a rich supply of nutrients and care for the shine of damaged hair while you sleep.

Washing your hair correctly is not complicated at all, but it definitely requires a little more attention from us. Remember this, because washing your hair can damage the hair structure, and even care cosmetics used at a later stage may not be enough to repair the damage.
